Emergency Lighting Tests and Inspections

Emergency lighting is for the safety of the building and its occupants, rather than for the purpose of security.

It is required by law in all business premesis that emergency lighting is functioning, tested and inspected on a regular basis.

In the event of power failure or external power cut, emergency lighting provides illumination to help occupants stay safe and navigate to an emergency exit.

Also, emergency signage must be illuminated to ensure that they remain visible during power failure.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is legislation in England and Wales that states premises have adequate emergency lighting installed and professionally maintained.

Emergency escape and escape route lighting helps people locate their nearest exit in an emergency situation.

Open area lighting provides lighting to public areas, reducing panic and illuminating the area for occupants to escape safely.

High-risk task area lighting is for use in certain areas where occupants are at greater risk, for example, allowing workers to shut down machinary during an emergency.
